Safety

At Mirleft Cultural Cove, the safety and well-being of your children are our top priorities. We are committed to providing a secure environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Below is our comprehensive safety plan to ensure the health and safety of all participants:

1. Emergency Medical Response

  • Local Hospital: In the event of an urgent injury or medical concern, we will immediately transport the child to the local hospital, which is located within close proximity to our hub. We will notify parents to meet us at the local hospital as soon as possible.

  • Larger Hospitals: If the situation requires more advanced medical care, it is likely that the patient will be transported to one of the two larger hospitals located 30 minutes away from Mirleft in either direction. In extreme cases, the patient may require transportation to a more urban facility approximately 1.5 hours away in Agadir.

  • Parental Notification: Parents will be promptly notified of any injury or medical emergency.  In case of urgent medical situations, we will transport to the local hospital immediately, where parents will meet us and make necessary medical decisions.

2. First Aid Readiness
  • We have a fully stocked first aid kit on-site, and our staff is trained in basic first aid and CPR. Minor injuries will be treated on-site, and parents will be informed of any incidents.

3. Risk Management

  • Inherent Risks: While we take every precaution to ensure a safe environment, it’s important to recognize that some level of risk is inherent in all life activities. We believe in fostering a balance between safety and the freedom to explore, which is vital for healthy development.

4. Supervision and Security

  • Children are supervised by our trained staff. The safe, small-town environment of Mirleft allows for independent exploration, however, our team will work in conjuction with children and parents to determine appropriate levels of independence. Depending on parent comfort levels, we may allow older teens to walk to various locations together. Younger children will be supervised at all times.

  • All staff members are familiar with local emergency procedures. All staff members are CPR trained.

  • In terms of ocean safety, all children will be supervised in the water.  We will use the buddy system to ensure nothing is missed.  One of our staff is a trained lifeguard with many years of ocean experience who will be the first responder in case of any water incident.  Our water safety measures include the buddy system, child counts, and "eyes on" scanning. Parents should encourage their child to take water safety seriously during hub and to listen to all instructions from hub hosts.

5. Parental Involvement

  • We believe in transparent communication with parents. You are encouraged to discuss any concerns with us, and we are here to ensure you feel confident in your child’s safety while they are in our care.

At Mirleft Cultural Cove, we are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. Thank you for trusting us with your child's well-being.
